Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We previewed the upcoming chapter in the student's book. We began with the new vocabulary words, reading them aloud, discussing any English cognates, and identifying the declensions or conjugations of each noun and verb. Then, we translated the "cartoons" on the first page; he learned how to translate a sentence without an obvious subject (using the verb ending). I taught him the endings for second and third declension nouns, and he practiced forming a variety of those nouns. We also practiced a bit with forming noun and adjective pairs. I encouraged him to memorize the case endings for each declension so it would not be as confusing. We will begin the next session with noun and adjective practice."
"Today, the student and I covered Chapter 15 out of Ecce Romani I. Specifically, we covered chapter vocab, identifying neuter nouns, and the imperfect tense. The student's attitude towards Latin is generally positive. I emphasized using vocab cards daily."
"We reviewed ch 12 vocabulary and discussed ch 12 grammar, the perfect active indicative system. We also practiced translation: English to Latin and Latin to English."
