Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has a test coming up this week, so we spent the session studying and reviewing for that. For the most part, she had the concepts down pat. We covered rules of exponents that will be on the test, including multiplying terms with exponents, raising exponent terms to a power, combinations of multiplying and raising to a power, dividing terms with exponents, simplifying terms with negative exponents, simplifying terms with fractional exponents, simplifying square roots, rationalizing denominators, adding terms with like and unlike square root parts, multiplying out binomials with square root terms, and applying simple calculations or simplifying steps to cube roots. She continues to have a positive attitude and be willing to work on her accuracy; she has firm grasp of all the rules and procedures for this section of material and should do well on the test this week."
"Today, I worked with the student to finish his review packet for Algebra 1. We covered concepts like solving 1 and 2 step equations and inequalities, as well as the concepts of substitution and PEMDAS (order of operations). We were able to complete his extra credit packet and start on another homework packet that involved inequalities. We completed the first page and will continue our work together next week."
"During this session, the student and I worked through the first half of her semester review sheet. She did a wonderful job and even aced the section that was giving her trouble in the previous session."
"The student and I went over his homework. So far, he has no problems with his studies. He ended up finishing his homework with a very clear understanding."
"Today, we have worked on a chemistry worksheet. We covered topics, including stoichiometry, theoretical yield, actual yield, and percent yield. We also talked about different types of reactions. The student was able to finish the worksheet and understands most the material."
"The student and I focused heavily on the subjects of factoring, completing the square, determining quadratic roots, and working with quadratic equations in their different forms. We also spent some time working with graphs of parabolas and practicing the relevant features on her calculator. She had a great attitude toward the material, and I think her retake quiz tomorrow will go very well."
