"Review of student's seven subjects to include, current homework assignments, grades, timely completion of homework, study habits, understanding and organization of content. The student was left with a list of items to complete before the next tutoring session."
"We completed a significant amount of homework over the weekend. Watched and discussed a video for history and updated planner with tasks."
"We read a vacation story: Roald Dahl's "Man From the South." In preparation, the student and I identified and defined terms pertaining to character, such as protagonist, antagonist, comic relief, etc. as well as terms pertaining to conflict, such as man vs. nature, man vs. man, man vs. himself, and man vs. supernatural. We identified examples of each, and prepped our minds to look for these character and conflict types in the story. He and I then took turns reading the story aloud. When we were done, I asked him several comprehension questions, and he then typed out notes regarding the various characters. We then began higher-level analysis of the story, such as the theme about games gone too far, and why none of the characters in the story have names. We will continue analyzing this story next time and using it to practice annotation, note-taking, and turning those notes into critical essays."
"We went over how to approach this week's discussion board question. We also discuss individual goals vs organizational goals and how they are similar."
"The student and I continued to discuss his paper today. He did a good job working throughout the session. His concentration and focus were very impressive."
