Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed vocabulary on meals and food, and also worked on exercises from her book in order to practice and prepare for her upcoming exam in January. We also reviewed the flashcards she had made for her world cultures class, as she had a test the next day."
"This was a good session but it was jam packed. We attempted to review all vocab, articles, agreements, constructions, verbs, and prepositions."
"We did an initial evaluation, then reviewed verb conjugations, ar, er, ir - Ir, simple future, questions and syntax."
"We continued reviewing for the student's upcoming final exam. Using the topics listed on her study guide, we went through a series of grammatical exercises. We reviewed the conjugation of verbs in the present and preterite tenses, and we also studied the use of "ser" vs. "estar." I had her complete some of the practice exercises in her textbook as well as some of my own practice questions."
"Today we covered vocabulary used when meeting new people, cultural differences, and the uses of tu and usted. We also practiced listening skills and conversation. We then worked on reading comprehension of a simple text. We ended the session with a review of greetings and good-byes and the alphabet."
"Today, the student and I talked about the food pyramid. He has been learning about it in his Spanish class, so we made and labeled a food pyramid and wrote examples of different foods in each group (in Spanish). He worked really hard, so as a reward, he read a chapter of his book from school to me. It is so awesome when kids are excited to read, so I was happy to see how much he enjoyed it. Hands on projects seem to help him retain information better, so we will continue to do activities and learning like this."
