Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"For our final session, the student and I worked through another practice test and paid special attention to her essay, which was a huge improvement over her last effort. We worked through math concepts primarily as well as the writing multiple choice, and I took some of her concerns regarding how the test is administered."
"The student and I went over his mistakes from the writing and critical reading sections for the third practice SAT. We reviewed strategies for completing the questions in time and some vocabulary. I left the student with extra math problems."
"The student remains most worried about English, and so we spent the time doing English practice questions together. We discussed the concepts that he got wrong the first time--mostly having to do with sub-verb agreement, comma/colon usage, and idioms. He is definitely getting better, and I think more practice is the key to further improvement. He should also be spending homework time practicing the reading section and also the science section."
"The student and I reviewed how the exam is structured and went over his diagnostics test. The student's attitude and abilities are incredible."
"The student and I reviewed simplifying expressions after substituting values, solving equations with fractions, translating verbal expressions to algebraic expressions, and solving word problems. We pulled together all the strategies we have been working on, such as completing one step at a time, breaking down fractions, and relating numbers to real-life scenarios. She did an excellent job connecting spending money to percents and fractions."
"The student and I reviewed the Math test that I had assigned him. He and I spent the majority of our time reviewing important grammar concepts tested on the ACT and SAT. I will be assigning him a full practice test to be completed by our next lesson."
