The student continued to create the program structure and code for her assignment in Schelling's model of housing segregation. She needed help with coming up with code for instructions and requirements described by her programming description. We made progress in being able to access the grids for the model segregation, but have a bit left to figure out. She was left with the homework of gathering her class resources to clarify our next step in her program. I see her comfort with programming improving.

The student and I covered some Python basics, including lists and data type handling. We introduced for loops as ways to iterate over ranges of numbers and the modulo operator for determination of divisibility. The student was excited to learn about Python and asked questions whenever he felt he needed to. I gave the student some ideas for practice during the off-time and some additional coding resources to build his skill set. Next session is tomorrow.

The student and I discussed the application of various datatypes, including lists, dictionaries, and sets. We also worked on some good coding practices she should try. She needed a refresher on a couple of specific commands, but overall she had very good command of the material she knew and picked up on new ideas quickly. When in the middle of a project, she may sometimes have to concede that an elegant solution is too time-consuming to work out when a simpler approach will suffice, but her curiosity about what Python is capable of will serve her well if she continues to study programming.

This session was a general review of everything the student's learn so far. Specifically, he's taken a test, and the teacher assigned the same test as a take home homework. This is basically a way to do test corrections without seeing what you got wrong on the test. We went through each of the questions he struggled with and discussed the answers.
