Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was our introduction session. We met to talk about what the student wanted to practice and how she wanted our sessions to run. We had a conversation in Spanish to introduce each other and for me to hear the areas in her Spanish speaking that needed extra help."
"In this session we went over the entire chapter. We worked on reading skills and answering questions in full sentences. Also we worked on both "To Be" verb and "Hacer". The student is improving on his Spanish work. He pays closer attention and is kept up with last week's assignment."
"Today the student and I began the session by playing a buying and selling game to practice numbers. We reviewed the songs from last session, and I had him fill in the words out of lyrics with some blanks to practice listening and vocabulary. We finished by reading "Little Red Riding Hood" in Spanish to practice reading comprehension."
"The student was very pleasant to work with and has familiarity with Spanish without much formal training. She had studied a list of phrases I had given her and we went over the most useful of them and then walked through scenarios that she may encounter in her work with Spanish-speaking customers. She learned several new useful phrases, and will study and practice them for our session next week."
"We learned gardening words today! We talked about seeds, plants, and all the tools necessary to take care of a garden as well as review what we've learned. I left the student with work to pick 6 stem changing (e to ie) boot verbs in order to expand his vocab and use more colorful action words."
"The student and I went over several new verbs that he is beginning to learn in class. He had a conjugation worksheet that he worked on, and I helped as needed, which really wasn't much since he is doing very well and quickly picks up on things. We also went over a couple of extra verbs that haven't been brought up at all yet in class so that he will be ahead of the game when they are. He has a test on all the verbs next week, so in our next session, we will focus on readying him for his exam."
