Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered more quadratics and finding the vertex, axis of symmetry, and some other qualities of quadratics. Generally, we mainly worked on using the quadratic function to get the roots of the equation. Overall, I think it was a productive session and he seems to be able to solve these type of questions with minimal help now."
"We reviewed the monomials, Exponents and polynomials. Solved many example in each area to get the student prepared for her exam on Friday."
"The student had homework on simplifying exponential functions that had different terms. She solved those problems effortlessly. She also had to complete test corrections, where she had minimal problems. We spent the rest of the time reviewing the square root and cubed root facts in an effort to commit them to memory."
"We looked over a couple of assignments the student needed to complete for the week. Then we looked at a group activity sheet he had and discussed how to solve for x in a couple of log equations without using a calculator, so we discussed the log rules that he had already learned and how to apply them to each situation so x could be determined. Last we reviewed a sheet he had completed in chemistry about Gibbs free energy. He had specific questions about "why" on certain answers he had already found. There were also a couple of problems that asked the student to determine if something always or never happened. We talked about how the negative number in temperature or entropy affected results."
"The student needed to review some concepts for algebra, but he remembered them very quickly and was able to complete all the questions on his homework with relative ease. In chemistry, he needed some basic fundamental concepts to be reviewed, but he also learned the skills of balancing equations very quickly."
"I worked with the student on scientific notation, factoring quadratics, and finding perimeter and area of various figures. We also worked on percentages and setting up proportions. Her mom wants me to email her the test prep and so that she can with work with her to prepare her for the test."
