Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session today, the student and I completed sections 1 and 2 of Chapter 9. We also got about halfway done with Section 3 of Chapter 9."
"We began by discussing our schedules for the remainder of the summer before the semester begins. I agreed to look for relevant practice problems that the student can use to prepare for the first exam. Next, we looked through the figures in Chapter 2, which dealt with protein structures. I asked him questions about DNA transcription and translation, and then we covered topics including the different types of amino acids, the secondary structures of polypeptide chains, such as alpha-helices and beta-sheets, and protein folding mechanisms. I ended the session by having her read aloud the summary points from Chapters 1 and 2, while making sure she understood the implications of each point. We agreed to meet next week at the same time and place."
"We continued to do practice exams and the student is definitely improving. Repeated quizzing of the concepts works with her. The test is in a week and a half."
"Today, we started reviewing for the upcoming plant exam by going over the main classification of plants as well as review the main structures of various plants. The student did very well today despite not having seen the material for a few weeks. On Saturday, we will start working on the biology review packet in preparation for the final exam."
"Today, we covered plant structure and function, including tissue types in plants, root structure and stem structure, vascular tissue, meristem and cambium, differences between monocots and dicots, and leaf structure."

The student continues to understand concepts. Overall, he has made much progress and continues to be engaged, energetic, and determined."
