Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today I worked with the student as he studied for his exam this Wednesday on mandatos (commands) positive/negative and familiar/formal. He also has an oral presentation assignment due tomorrow which we reviewed as well. This was an excellent session as I was able to help the student overcome his challenges with the material. Overall, he is very motivated and doing well with understanding the concepts, however where he struggles most is in forgetting some of the fundamentals covered in previous classes when he needs to put everything together. For example, he did well preparing for his oral presentation, but still was making mistakes with masculine and feminine nouns and stem change verbs. I gave him several tips and resources on stem change verbs which we reviewed. I also found a good overview on the irregular (tu) affirmative imperative verbs. There were no recent grades, however he is doing better than before I began working with him. There were great wins from this session in that he really seemed to understanding the material so much better with the tips and tutoring."
"I had assigned the student to work on memorizing several key verbs and we worked on the difference -between "ser" and "estar". I gave her fill-in exercises to cement this new information. We worked on possessive adjectives, more traveling vocabulary, and talking about herself in the past tense. I will send her more resources to practice "ser" and "estar"."
"Today we covered the difference between the preterite and the imperfect tense by doing several fill in the gap sentences. We also checked the student's writing portion of the AP test and made some adjustments."
