"Today the student and I took a long look together at his essay on Sun Tzu's "The Art of War." We discussed ways to sharpen the title so that it reflects his message on the influence of Sun Tzu's teachings on the right way to conduct a war. We then dug down and went through the paper paragraph by paragraph, reviewing the strengths of his writing, and the places where sentences were difficult to understand. He quickly agreed to my suggestions, though I encouraged him to be frank if my logic was not clear. He affirmed that he understand why I picked on certain sentences. We also discussed the syllabus and the methods of the instructor and we agreed to pay close attention to doing things in such a way that the instructor was satisfied. I believe that he is doing very well."
"The student began her essay for her National Honor Society application and continued to work on her summer essay for her British literature class."
"The student and I worked on sonnet presentation, government for his history project, and memorizing his poem."
