Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student needed help preparing for a quiz coming up over derivatives. The topics covered in our session included the definition of the derivative, interpretation of the derivative, differentiation formulas, product rule, derivatives of exponential and logarithm functions, and chain rule. The new material was reinforced with practice problems at the end of the chapters. The student expressed his understanding of the concepts both verbally and on paper with me as his confidence began to increase with the concepts. Overall, it was a very successful session."
"The student was starting this course from the beginning, and the first section was covering limits. We went over most of each problem in the first section of the chapter, and I made a list of steps he could follow when evaluating limits. I also showed him a number of calculator shortcuts to help with graphs and calculating answers, which he was pleased with."
"The student was studying for an exam and wanted to review for it. This exam covered algebra 2 and precalculus topics such as solving equations for all types of functions. He is well prepared after completing her review."
"The student went through 4.6 to 5.2 homework today, and we talked about definite and indefinite integrals. I also showed her the substitution rule and the Riemann sums and how they translate into integrals. I left her with homework from 5.2 and 5.3 today, including reading the 5.3 section. She is taking to the new material well. Mostly, it's just about how much practice she has that determines how well she retains it."
"The student worked on some homework problems he was assigned. He seemed to be able to handle the core trigonometric concepts the homework covered."
"The student's class has now officially stopped learning new material, and now it's time to review. I will be making him a review guide with problems from all of the chapters we've done in the class. I really think he could knock this exam out of the park, but he needs to really start taking his time to ensure he doesn't make little mistakes, as this hurt him on the exam. He has a great comprehension on the material and hard concepts, which is excellent."
