"We went through her homework over solving equations with trig quadratics. We went over factoring again, and she's getting it a little bit faster every time. We then talked about completing the square and did several practice problems until she could do them with ease. We then talked about how completing the square was used in conic sections and did a few examples."
"Reviewed sections 13.3 through 14.7 to prepare for the student's exam next week. Most of our concentration was on the topics in chapter 13 as he is very comfortable with the material in 14. That being said, he is doing well and seems to understand the majority of the material that will be on his exam. He will continue to work on the review sheet I gave him and we will meet again before his exam if needed."
"Today we focused on the student's math exam tomorrow which covers 8.1-8.4 which covered topics on area and circumference of a circle, area and perimeter of irregular shapes, and estimation of area. She had a very difficult time determining the area of the irregular shapes, specifically the triangular portion; she was having difficulty differentiating between the height and the hypotenuse when finding the area of the triangle. We were able to get a few problems done with some extra problems I created."
"The student focused much better today. We worked on number line addition again, and we also reviewed number line subtraction. She did quite well with these, but I would like to go back over knowing the difference again tomorrow."
"The student and I went over area and perimeter homework assigned to him. He knows the basics, and he did extremely well on his homework. We also spent some time working on fifth grade skills for his upcoming placement test. He was very confident in knowing inequalities, and we continued working on many other skills as a quick preview."
"The student has a test on Wednesday covering all of the Geometry Chapter they have been working on. For his homework he had to do 3 pages of mixed review of the Chapter. It covered triangle types (scalene, equilateral, etc.), angles (obtuse, acute), how to find missing angles, quadrilateral types, a few word problems, and some translations and rotations. He did really well on all the topics. He only needed a bit of guidance with a few of the word problems, but he was able to work through them well. He said he was feeling pretty good about the test, and I anticipate that he will do great!"
