Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was the last review session for the student. We reviewed the worksheet she had for her final which included 46 total problems. We went over all 46 and made sure she was ready for her final."
"Went over Rate Law, Routes Law, Equilibrium, Routes Law calculation. She will continue working on homework assignments."
"The session was spent going over acid/base chemistry and enthalpy of reactions. Although both are fairly simple concepts, they do take quite a bit of time, especially the former, which can have extensive, multi-faceted problems. For example, the student and I practiced converting between pH, pOH, [H+], and [OH-], which required knowledge of several equations. We worked on BCA tables, and the conversion of concentration to moles and liters, as well as the conversion of moles into liters via a chemicals known density, particularly that of water. We talked about the volumetric contributions of the acid/base reactant solutions and that of the resultant water. Before that, we discussed enthalpies, a completely unknown concept to her, but something that turned out to be very simple and easy for her to do. All it required was the conversion of a standard enthalpy for a given reaction into a specific enthalpy for a given number of grams of reactant. After the first sample problem, she caught on immediately and was able to do all of the problems on her own w/o my assistance. I gave her extra acid/base problems for practice before her test tomorrow."
