Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Finalized review for midterm test that included more examples of factoring by grouping, difference of cubes, synthetic division, and the expanded form of binomial expressions. In addition completed practice with intersection and union of events with problem sets."
"The student showed excellent understanding and skill with area of squares, triangles and composite figures, equivalent fractions, unit conversions, regular polygons, sales tax and tips. He has learned well how to change fractions and percents to decimals to help with calculations and using formulas. He uses his calculator extensively and also thinks about the answer so he catches errors."
"The student and I reviewed her worksheets and homework from this week and practiced strategies for addition/subtraction of integers. We discussed how best to show work when solving problems to reduce frequency of careless mistakes. We briefly touched on multiplication/division of integers, which is the next topic in class. We also practiced algebraic word problems and strategies to use when solving them."
"The student and I reviewed his math homework, which included quadratic equations; factoring; and adding, multiplying, and dividing fractions. He made good progress by the end, and I think he understands the material. I reminded him to go slowly through the problems to avoid errors with positives and negatives. For the last part of the session, we reviewed his English homework as well."
"Today we covered multiplying fractions using models and adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers with decimals. The student did a good job with the practice."
"I spent the session with the student reviewing problems for the upcoming IB exam, covering problems in geometry, analytic geometry, and working with functions. Overall, the student did well on the problems and I expect him to do well on the exam."
