"The student had a final exam the next day on chapters 1-3, so I helped him go through all of the vocabulary using the lists provided at the end of each chapter. He did great with this. For any word that he didn't know immediately, I asked him to write it down on a flash card. Once we went through each chapter, he and I went through each flashcard, noting which ones he again didn't know immediately. I left him with the small pile of words that he had struggled on both rounds and told him to get those down before the exam. We also covered counting, telling time, possessive pronouns, and uses of ser and estar. He should do great on the final exam. He told me last week that he got an A on his chapter 3 exam, which is great news!"
"We continued studying for the student's final exam. We focused on Chapters 2A and 2B. We did a lot of conjugating and reviewing of the vocabulary. Once he has a concept down, it seems to stick. I left him with starred vocabulary words to study and an extra review sheet that I had made. I told him to study from his old tests and be sure to review the chapters we had gone over the previous week so that they were fresh in his head. I just pray his does well on his final tomorrow!"
"Today we started with a quick review of using the listing concept to talk about morning routines. The student did well with the listing, she just needs to learn more vocabulary to be able to confidently talk about a wider variety of topics. We then worked on how to show tense in ASL. We worked on the basics of the past, present, and future and how to form them in their most basic forms. Next we worked on signing a story. The one that I signed had a lot of vocabulary that was new and hard for her but she tried hard and was able to grasp a lot of what I expected her to already know. She continues to struggle with the placement of brother and sister. We will continue to work on these signs while also working on other concepts. We ended with signing sentences and questions. After being reminded once about how to form Wh- and Yes/No questions, she was able to form them correctly or correct herself when she did it wrong. She is showing improvement and thinking of how to convey something when she may not know the sign for the word she wants. This is a great skill that is developing."
