"We went over more problems involving radicals. Simplifying radical expressions in which there are variables with exponents is a tricky topic and something that I'd recommend the student practices more. Otherwise, great job, as always!"
"I met with the student tonight to help her with preparations for Monday's test. We mostly focused on her homework problems that required usage of De Moivre's Formula to find the result of a complex number (a + bi) being raised to an exponent. Then we did problems where I (semi-incorrectly) used the same formula to determine the Roots of Unity for a complex number, while she applied a different formula given in class. We also did one problem involving a geometric interpretation of Roots of Unity. Along the way I tried to provide little tips to make the required conversions more simple."
"Today we continued to work on slope. We practiced finding slope given two points, and turning an equation into slope-intercept form in order to find the slope and y-intercept. We also practice graphing some equations with a point and the slope given."
"We worked through about 5 problems from his homework. The student knew about the elimination method of solving systems of equations, but I also showed him the substitution method, which he had not seen before, but found helpful."
"We went over conic equations, how to graph them, find the number of solutions, find foci, etc. The student was very comfortable with all the equations and what to look in the equation to classify them by circles, parabolas, and ellipses."
"We discussed Taylor polynomials and forming Maclaurin polynomials of nth degree. We also discussed how to find errors by going over questions the student had regarding the topic. The student shows strong knowledge on the subject and with reinforcement his confidence will rise."
