Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over colligative properties of solutions, specifically, boiling point elevation. We completed several practice problems involving one step or multiple steps with stoichiometry. The student struggled most with calculating change in temperature and understanding what values the given equations calculated/how to apply them. Also, covered calculating molality and molarity, and calculating molarity of ionic species."
"In this session we worked on getting the student ready for his final test on Wednesday. He is covering circuits and Coulomb's law right now and we mainly worked on understanding circuit diagrams and how to label power, voltage and current when working with resistors in series. He seems really comfortable with this section and I think he will show that on the upcoming test."
"We covered topics 5, 6 and 7 today. The student understands all of the concepts. We went through a lot of material, so I instructed her to go over the book on her own for further practice. I will be sending her sets of practice problems for all topics!"
"Today we covered Hess's Law and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. Hess's Law took some explaining, but the student quickly understood the mechanics."
"Today we went over topics in nuclear chemistry, including: what each particle meant conceptually and how to approach/solve reactions involving nuclear chemistry. The student was confused with the topic initially, but after going through the lesson, he seemed to think it was pretty straightforward."
"Today, I talked with the student about her exam on Thursday. Specifically, we covered topics ranging from NMR spectra to addition reactions, nucleophilic substitution reactions (and covering topics such as nucleophilicity), elimination reactions, and intramolecular cyclization reactions (including addition reactions and lactone formations). She seems like she is pretty prepared for her test, and she has put in a good deal of studying for it. I am confident in her abilities to perform well on this test."
