"The student and I prepared for a test that he has for Algebra on asymptotes and graphing rational functions. He also solved his homework problems. I then made up some additional problems for him to work on. By the end of the session, he was confident in working the problems and that he would do well on his test."
"The student called me with some algebra questions today. We concentrated on factoring quadratic equations and the 'complete the square method.' He does pretty well once he has a formula and examples in front of him."
"Today we worked on computer skills and multiplication practice. We completed the entire quiz together, which took the better part of an hour. We also played around with inserting columns into a document and using focus mode. Overall it was a great session."
"Today I helped the student with her math homework which took the majority of the time. We used white boards to help solve the addition problems and then she transferred the information to her sheet. After that, she read a story to record for her reading homework. The last thing I had her work on was a reading comprehension passage about seeds and then she answered the questions that followed. She was a little apprehensive when it came to her math homework. It was a little slow getting her started on the work, but once I introduced the white boards she became more interested in learning."
"We covered math this time and we answered 5-6 problems about translation, equation of a line and situational problems. The student was able to comprehend on the way the calculation needs to be done but needs more practice."
"Today we worked on a review of continuous and discrete random variables. The problems on the review didn't seem quite as difficult as the homework problems. We went over how to find the expected value of a discrete probability distribution and how this was student from a continuous distribution. The student seemed to do ok once we went over the formulas. She told me she felt comfortable with the normal distribution problems, so we didn't practice these too much, although I did write down how to find this in her calculator."
