The student answered problems on the chapter that includes variety of problems from the homework assignments. He solved almost 10 questions. He is not that familiar yet in the theorems that he needs to know for this chapter. We will work on those more on the succeeding sessions before his exam.

We continued to cover the topic of similarity. We reviewed the definitions of proportions, ratios, and the concept of similarity itself. We practiced these concepts with a number of problems from class worksheets and from the book.

The client reported that her overall grade due to last semester is a high B, but she believes she will make an A due to how well she has been doing this semester. She reports obtaining As on her last 2 quizzes. Today we worked on 12-4 where she struggled to conceptualize how to work with the circles and angles in the beginning. We also worked on the practice quiz but after working through some problems, she was able to further understand how to solve all of them and she memorized the equations to do so. We then reviewed the rest of the chapter for her upcoming test on Friday.

Concepts Covered: Pythagorean Theorem; trigonometric formulas; area of 2D shapes; volume of regular 3D shapes; the relationship between congruence and measure; corresponding, vertical, alternate interior, and supplementary angles; writing geometric proofs; triangle congruence theorems; standard form equations for lines and circles; test-taking strategies (eliminating wrong answers, identifying given information, identifying the question, reasoning from known formulas to unknown formulas). The student has been a pleasure to work with. His attitude and motivation have been consistently positive. In final preparation for his exam tomorrow, I recommend reviewing key formulas such as the Pythagorean Theorem; the trigonometric formulas (SOHCAHTOA); the standard form equations for lines and circles; area, circumference, and volume formulas; and the basic postulates for congruent angles (corresponding angles, vertical angles, and alternate interior angles). Good luck!

Today we had a great chance to work on jlab practice problems for geometry class. We have planned to finish at most 3 tests--that is 60 problems in all. We started with the first test which was mostly about triangles, and properties of polygons. The lab is an online resource and also after each problem you can see the wrong and correct result. This way we went over the wrong ones one more time. After we finished the first time by taking a short break we continued with the next two, which consisted of more topics and more detailed problems in it that are the distance problems, area problems, standard circle formula, transversal lines between parallel and nonparallel lines, the properties of 3d shapes, etc. He has done pretty good work on the last two tests as well. Sometimes he needed help and he followed each instruction with full attention and this helped him to solve other related problems easily.

Concepts we covered included: geometric transformation -- translation, dilation; similar figures and ratios of side lengths. The student needed to go over the concept of side length ration in similar figures but the student did well with making sure similar figures had congruent angle measures. The student was positive, enthusiastic. We reviewed proofs from a previous homework assignment to clarify indirect proofs. Went through examples of similar figures and how their angles are congruent and their lengths have a ratio to them. The student is getting more enthusiastic with each session.
