Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over her science book chapter on magnetic electricity and also a five-minute video on the logistics of smart phones and finding locations. The session went well."
"The student spent the session finishing up part of his science lab from the last session. The rest of the time was spent preparing for his biology test that is scheduled for Thursday. We went through the study guide his teacher provided and answered all the questions. We also went through his textbook for supplementary material."
"This session was another 45 minute follow up for our initial session. The student and I reviewed his week in school using a digital calendar we created together the previous week. We reviewed concepts in science and English that he found exciting and concepts that needed to be worked. We also spent time reviewing the basics for outlining, drafting, and organizing content for an essay."
"We worked on some math today with money and her multiplication facts. The student hasn't been working on her math which I told her she needs to practice everyday and use the tools I have given her to learn/ know her facts. I left her some math for next time to go over and we will also work on reading next time. She has finished 2 books. We will finish up next time with some reading and comprehension."
"The student and I had a good session today. We worked to set up his new computer, Gmail account, and calendar to help prepare him for the school year. We also worked to prepare him for his upcoming polyphony editing workshop. We spent the tail end of our time working on his personal narrative essay, which is coming along. He is going to write a new draft for Saturday."
"We had a different kind of lesson today. It became evident that using typical study techniques wouldn't suffice to help the student complete the online course. So we powered through three lessons - taking the entire unit test on the first, then completing the reviews for the other two. He can easily pass them all once they're open for him to take the test. I left him the assignment of going over 8 terms he had issues with, and taking the tests as soon as they're available. Once this course is completed, we can work on the nitty-gritty study skills for regular classes."
