Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During the session with the student we discussed a worksheet provided as homework in preparation of an upcoming test. The first two parts of the worksheet were Spanish paragraphs with blanks and a verb infinitive with instructions to conjugate the verb into the appropriate tense (present or preterite) as these would be a focus of an upcoming test. The last part of the worksheet was a series of questions for the student to answer in Spanish. I found several study guides that I felt would be beneficial for the student in studying regular verb conjugation. I also included a practice worksheet on the use of the verb "gustar" as the student expressed interest in working on this verb more in depth. It's use is challenging and is important to master, plus this supplemental practice will be relevant for other verbs which have similar conjugation structure. The student did a very good job using her Spanish critical thinking skills to work out correct responses using sentence context of the homework/test practice worksheet even if she didn't recall the verb meaning precisely."
"We looked particularly at the preterit and imperfect tenses today, with lots of exercises using different verbs. We also studied some new vocabulary and sentence structure."
"Throughout the session, I sporadically quizzed the student on his new vocabulary section. We focused mostly on subjunctive, reviewing rules of conjugation and appropriate application. I also taught a few additional ways to use the subjunctive including with the phrases "Quizas" and "aunque." By the end of it, the student was pretty quick on his vocab! Good progress."
