"I met with the student to work on Algebra II. The student's class is online, so she gets to dictate the order in which she completes sections. We started by looking at some geometric algebra - it quickly became apparent that the material was very easy and the student was having no trouble with it. We then switched gears to a section that the student had been avoiding because it was very new - probability and statistics. We spent most of our session having a very fruitful discussion on Permutations and Combinations, building the ideas step-by-step and working through lots of examples (both ones that I made up and ones provided through the online class). I think we made a lot of progress, especially starting from little familiarity with the subject. I suspect that in our next session we will continue where we left off, talking more about Combinations and moving on to Binomial distributions."
"In this session with the student, I helped him review math for the final. We also talked about math questions for his in-class assignment. In the next session, we will talk more about math homework/quizzes as well as preparation for his final."
"The student and I covered integration, definite integrals with exponents and logs, finding net area vs total area, and using calculators. I mentioned shortcuts to calculating integrals by hand. Lastly, we introduced the mean value theorem and uses."
"The student worked on a math online website. It was brought to my attention that next session we need to practice addition and subtraction of three digit numbers. He is still very strong in his fraction work."
"The student and I worked on preparing for the AP exam. We worked on a few question types with which he had issues. He understand the questions as we discuss them. We will meet again on Wednesday to continue preparing for the AP exam."
"She seemed to be very focused today and was on top of the material. We went over lesson 88 today which included finding lateral area, volume of cubes, prisms, and pyramids. We also worked with problems about proportionality and identifying the constant of proportionality as well as drawing the graphs of the functions. We also worked on simplification problems and she seemed to understand these better today."
