Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We first reviewed the materials from the previous session, practiced the writing of characters and phrases. She showed improvement by only missing a few this time. Today's new vocab for writing were: cloudy and afternoon. After the study of vocab, we played "five chess" where she progressed a lot. We ended up with a score of 3:2, with her on the winning side, then the real Chinese chess after that. She's getting better each time."
"We reviewed everything we have learned so far. Today's conversation covers from numbers 1 to 15, colors, animals, fruits, vegetables, objects. We practiced all related words. I brought a book about Daddy and son play ball. The student practiced all basic animal words and we will practice them in next session."
"The student had a book with him at this session, so the learning process went more smoothly. We tried to go over every chapter in the book, and expanded to more specific questions or concepts. The student was having difficulty with the usage of "le" in Mandarin, and I was trying to teach him by giving him more specific examples so that he can understand the meaning through the context. Overall, I am happy to work with this student; he works really and he is very eager to learn. He always picks up things very quickly, and we had great communication. I always can see big progress from his learning. He has good pronunciation and a good recognition of the Chinese characters."
"The student and I learned some new vocabulary about the body, along with greetings and salutations. We also revisited previously covered vocabulary. I received feedback from his teacher that he is doing better in his class. He is understanding what his teacher is saying, and just needs more confidence in responding in Spanish. We will continue to work on that."
"The student and I met for the first time to focus on her upcoming final exam for Spanish 101. I gave her specific study tips, we organized her information, and I advised her to think about taking notes on pronunciation and sound patterns ahead of her second semester of Spanish. We also spent about 20 minutes editing a research paper for her media course."
"The student and I practiced the difference between preterite and imperfect. She has made major improvement on this subject, and she has put in more time studying verb conjugations on her own. We also reviewed her homework."
