Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight the student worked on a class project that is due this week. Specifically we went over all accents and vocabulary to ensure that they were used correctly. We also went ahead a read through a future lesson plan so that she will be pre-prepared."
"We did a lot of verb work today! We went over all the verb tenses and I provided practice paragraphs for the student to identify the tenses. This is exactly like the exercises his teacher is doing in class, so we tried to simulate that. Today was a major practice day. The student just needs to briefly go over the subjunctive conjugations and the constructions for the harder verb tenses. Overall though, I think this helped in solidifying the info that his class is currently covering (outside the movie they are watching)."
"The student was preparing for an oral presentation about Reims, France. She spent the first part of the session collecting information for the presentation, while I wrote up a grammar reference document about pronouns for her. Then we went through her English notes, translating them and clarifying them for her presentation. We talked about what points to emphasize in the context of the presentation. I added a bit of time to this session for editing."
"The session went well. The student has a test tomorrow, so we went over it, and I explained to him direct object pronouns and how to use them. The test will have a cultural part, comparing the way of living in Spain to the U.S.A. We discussed that too."
"The student and I covered body parts vocab today. He needed help specifically with the words for finger (dedo) and leg (pierna), and the correct pronunciation of nariz. We made mnemonic devices for most of the words, which he used to recall many of the ones he had not encountered before in previous units. This was a good session, and he knows all the words now!"
"The student and I focused primarily on Spanish 1. We reviewed the conjugation of the verb ser and its use for his upcoming quiz. We also reviewed the endings for regular -AR, -ER and -IR verbs and suffixes for adjectives that change according to quantity and gender. We also discussed aspects of Biology: cellular respiration and photosynthesis (from Sections 9.1 and 9.3). Overall, the student was enthusiastic and did very well applying all the concepts discussed that day. Keep up the good work!"
