Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student did a great job today, as this was our last session before the test. We started by talking about techniques she can do to get ready for test day: the importance of sleep, healthy eating, visualizing the test room, relaxing, etc. She's well prepared for the test. We read some literature passages, some poetry, and history passages as well. We moved onto data reasoning for math. Again, she is well prepared, and I think she's going to do a fantastic job on Saturday. It was a pleasure working with her."
"We focused on math, specifically how to deal with equations with letters in them. We worked on manipulating equations (making A=lw into l=A/w, etc.) that are all letters as well as a mix of letters and numbers. We talked about different strategies like plugging in the answers in order to find the correct one vs. just solving the equation to find the answer. She has not learned this in school yet and definitely needs some more work on it before she'll feel confident with these types of questions on the test."
"Today was my first session with the student. I spent a good amount of time going over the ISEE test. I explained how the test is administered, what she should expect on the test date, and what the test consists of. I briefly discussed each section and the time allotted for each. I had her look over and take the practice test for the Reading Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning parts of a practice test. I mainly focused on familiarizing her with the test and homing in on her strengths so she can build confidence."
