"The student is taking an online algebra course and completed 3 assignments. We went over the questions that she had gotten incorrect. We reviewed solving systems of linear equations using graphing and substitution methods. We also reviewed rules of integers and inverse operations. We completed another lesson together, and she is starting to understand some of the patterns in inverse ops and manipulating equations. She will try to work ahead, but we will meet again on Thursday to discuss any problems that she has difficulty with."
"The student was given a readiness quiz before beginning chapter 1 of Algebra II. She answered 6 of 10 questions and only had 3 correct. We reviewed the quiz and she realized simple errors.
We then proceeded with chapter 1, covering the following topics:
order of operations
properties of real numbers
solving equations
solving absolute value equations
solving inequalities
solving compound and absolute value inequalities
We completed problems together and Georgia seemed to remember most of the content in chapter 1. She has a good grasp on foundational mathematical concepts and did not seem puzzled or confused throughout the session. She was assigned homework from each of the topics covered."

"The student and I went over general test taking strategies as well as strategies specific to the math section. I had her take a math concepts quiz covering basic equations and formulas that students are expected to know for the test. We went over the quiz together and I gave her flashcards that covered the equations she should know. She had completed a fulllength practice test before coming to the session, and we went over the problems she answered incorrectly or didn't get to on the math section. For homework I asked her to study the flashcards and complete another practice math test."
"We continued to focus on math this session and spent some time reviewing synonyms and test taking strategies. The student is remarkably tuned into our sessions, and I am confident she will be able to improve her SSAT score."
"Went over physics again. I think we've covered all the topics, so now it's just review. Moments of inertia, angular velocity, and momentum. I think he understands angular and moments of inertia, but knowing the formulas and how they relate might be an issue."
"In today's session, the student and I worked on geometry. We worked on various topics, including problems dealing with the properties of quadrilaterals, rhombus, squares, rectangles, and parallelograms. We also worked on right triangles and similar triangles. Toward the end of the session we worked on finding the volume, surface area, and lateral area of 3D figures."
"The student and I practiced math (right triangles, Pythagorean Theorem, sohcahtoa, distance formula, etc.) We spent about 14 minutes for reading, but he is doing well. He needs to develop a strategy for reading that will speed him up without sacrificing comprehension or accuracy. I assigned him math and reading homework at a website."
"We spent most of our time together working on grading past essays written by other students for AP world history, as it was not only a homework assignment, but a wonderful learning tool. We went over not only how the essays are graded, but we were also able to see the positives and negatives of each essay, which will hopefully make his essays stronger. We then used the essays given to us, to make a mock brainstorm for the essay, which was a great way to show a different type of brainstorming only used for that type of essay."
"We began the session by reviewing the two previous exams. The short answer questions where full credit was not attained were discussed in detail, and the student took the time to examine his notes and the text to come up with more thorough answers. We made some progress discussing cellular respiration, including glycolysis, the Krebs's cycle and pyruvate metabolism. We concluded the session by devising a strategy to stay organized on a per section basis and develop sound study techniques."
"Today, the student and I covered the basics of the essay section. We went over her previous two essays and details and talked about how she can improve. We developed a structure of how to approach future essay topics and how to choose a position and write a persuasive essay effectively. We also went over writing multiple choice questions involving passages and talked about how to read a passage for proper sentence flow and transition."
"We talked about what the student found challenging when she took the SAT in November. Based on this, we mainly focused on writing multiple choice and reading sections. We discussed specific grammatical principles (to be expanded on in future sessions) as well as overall testtaking strategies."
