Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we covered systems of equations. I was delighted to see that both students are not having too much trouble with the process. They are very knowledgeable in this topic. I did see there previous test grade which was exciting to see their confidence. They did very well! I also ran through some topics trying to discover where their gaps are."
"Taught the procedure to resolve the lateral and surface area of a cone, pyramid, and prism. Clarified the concept of 2-dimensional surface area and 3-dimensional volume. Corrected the previous misunderstanding of cross section of a surface to a cone, pyramid, or prism. Reviewed the geometry test materials."
"We worked on a review covering topics on a test tomorrow. The questions included graphing power and logarithmic functions, finding the domain and range, and finding the asymptote. The review also covered word problems including exponential growth and decay."
"We primarily reviewed basic additions for numbers within the 1 to 20 range. The student struggled mostly with remembering what addiction really represents and how to use different methods to perform additions more effectively. We practiced some useful methods, such as using finger representation, displacement of initial number, and using the number line. I left her with some extra practice problems."
"We covered hypothesis testing, null hypothesis, and alternative hypothesis. The student understood the material. I gave him concrete examples in order for him to understand the main concepts of this chapter. He is confident that he will do great. We went over chapter questions in order to practice. Overall, he did a good job."
"Awesome! The student seemed to gain an understanding of why he missed the problems on his worksheet. He also got a problem right on the worksheet that was difficult and required thinking a lot outside the box (it was a bonus question)! I made a few example questions for conversions during the second half of the session. I tried to bring in some types of questions that would require him to think outside the box and integrate what he has learned for conversions. I think there is still room for improvement on conversions, though. I at least would want to make sure he retained what we learned from last time during next session. He had a great attitude as always! I'm going to see if I can make a game or something more fun for practicing conversions."
