Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over practice exam questions, covering: how to find the order/age of rock/strata layers, the symbols used in weather reporting and Coriolis effect."
"We continued our review for the student's final running into additional kinematic and force problems. Most of the time was spent on work-energy and momentum in challenging combination problems. She now has enough familiarity to take on the hardest problems."
"We finished the review packet for the final, which covered ideal gas laws, stoichiometry, and kinetics. The student was getting better and better at identifying what equations applied to certain problems, and we picked up a few strategies for solving. One was to write out full units on each number so we could keep track and know which step came next. We also worked on a few extra practice problems for stoichiometry, and she felt more confident after we finished. Finally, we began doing some of the missing assignments, particularly those related to acids and bases and equilibrium. We figured out what she was going to write on her note card for the exam, including vocabulary and equations and nomenclature. She plans to finish the late work before our session tomorrow."
"The student and I covered traveling waves, Doppler effect, harmonics, and standing waves. The student is very self-motivated and does very well understanding concepts before our sessions. The student also has a good mathematical understanding of the equations to use and how to manipulate them. She is making great progress in her grades and assignments."
"The student and I did a test review for her upcoming exam. We went over a broad range of topics such as redox reactions, balancing and writing reactions, and calculating molar mass and stoichiometry. It was a great session, and I believe she is well prepared for her exam!"
"The student and I did one last review of a sample test and sample problems. We covered many topics, mostly quantum mechanics and electron configuration. She is going to do a little more review of gas laws on her own, and she is in good shape for her final tomorrow!"
