Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We first reviewed the previous session and practiced writing and sentencing. She remembered better, but still missed some. We'll continue to practice until she can become fluent. Today's new vocab are: sunny and aquarium. After the study of characters, we played a couple of rounds of "five chess" and then the official Chess."
"We reviewed the student's homework for the week. We will be working more and more on her English Conversation skills."
"Now that we're roughly 50% through the unit's new material, we practiced integrating the new vocab with vocab from previous lessons. The student did very well with this. C"
"Today, the student and I completed another Spanish lesson. We focused on incorporating his newer verb sheets and practiced using the different conjugations and subject pronouns into sentences. We worked on sentences with the main set of verbs he has been studying. We also spent some time talking about how the present indicative tense in Spanish translates into English in both affirmative and negative sentences. He did an excellent job today with his translations, especially with linking conjugated verbs with infinitives. He continues to improve with his pronunciation and chose the correct conjugation the majority of the time. He occasionally confuses the nosotros form with ellos or the tu verb form with 3rd person, but he tends to correct himself. We brought in a new verb sheet today, covering three new verbs for him to become familiar with."
"Today, the student and I focused on the using the subjunctive in adverbial and adjective clauses. We were also able to go through a story identifying all verb tenses, in which the student did very well! She did not struggle with the subjunctive, but had a lot of questions regarding conjunctions that are typically used in the adverbial clauses. The student was left with homework in which she will work write a short composition using the adjective clauses with the subjunctive. I will send her another story to look over to identify more complicating verb tenses in Spanish. She seems to be making a lot of progress, which is awesome!"
"Today, the student and I had a great first Spanish lesson. We went over the Spanish alphabet, basic greetings and responses, and did some supplemental activities (greeting matching, word search, and dialogue practice) to put the Spanish language to use. She picked up much of the Spanish naturally and was eager to learn! I enjoyed working with her and her dad and look forward to meeting with the student again soon. I told her I would send her dad the info sheets we used today to review and practice for our next lesson."
