Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met today and reviewed a number of topics from the last few chapters of his Latin text. I created a worksheet ahead of time that focused on highlighting some of the trickier aspects of the recent material he has been asked to learn. This including a table of vocabulary for new adverbs he has learned, analyzing conjugated forms of 4th conjugation verbs and completing a table of irregular comparative and superlative adjectives. While the student demonstrated an overall mastery of these concepts, he had forgotten a few of his irregular comparatives and superlatives and so this exercise served as a useful review. Additionally, we translated a passage from the next chapter in his Latin text. This was probably one of the most grammatically challenging translations to date and the student handled it quite well. He did ask to have further review on this passage in the future (especially concerning some particularly tricky grammar) and so I will work to come up with some sentences that incorporate similar complexities for next week. We finished our session by going over a couple of odd grammatical constructions (the use of "milia" with a partitive genitive and the ablative of degree of difference), in addition to completing an exercise requiring the student to come up with the correct Latin form for a given comparative or superlative adjective. This again served as a good review for some of the irregular adjectives the student has recently encountered."
"Today the student and I covered first declension nouns and first conjugation verbs. His mind is like a sponge. He can remember old and new vocabulary very quickly."
"We finished Ovid's Metamorphoses. Tomorrow is the student's last class of the semester, so this was our final meeting."
