Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for the test he has tomorrow. We solved radical equations and inequalities. We graphed radical functions and found the domain and range. We wrote equations in radical form and simplified. He said he feels good about the review."
"The student and I worked on a few AP problems from past exams covering topics including volumes of revolution and volumes by cross section. She is improving tremendously, as she was able to do most of the problems on her own. For next session, we're going to do more practice AP problems that will cover any and all topics of the course to further prepare her for the exam."
"We reviewed area and perimeter today, briefly went over 3 dimensional shapes, and worked on metric units of measurement with mass and volume. The session went well. For the next session, we will work on 3 digit subtraction with the number line (a new unit introduced to her in her regular classroom)."
"This session was dedicated to Algebra II review, and like the chemistry review from last week, it was based around a lengthy review packet that the student received. Initially, he had difficulty with some completing the square problems, in conjunction with vertex form (which kind of goes hand in hand with completing the square). We spent a good bit of time on these, and he understood the process by the end of the session. I think he will do pretty well on this exam, and there are still some problems in the packet that he can practice with if he'd like additional review."
"I checked in with the student about her test last week. She felt like she did pretty well on it. During this session, we concentrated on her homework which dealt with the properties of radicals and complex numbers. As we worked through her problems, it was evident she understood the concepts pretty well. She did most of the homework problems; she asked me to go over one more problem with her at the end of the session. After we solved that problem, she was confident she could finish the rest."
"We reviewed simplifying exponential and roots. I also reviewed how to factor out cubic equations in preparation for her test tomorrow. I created extra problems for her to practice in the areas that she struggled with."
