"The student and I went over the questions he did not have time to complete on his test to help him prepare for his retake. The questions he was able to do, he did very well on. Also writing a step-by-step process for solving the problems worked very well for him!"
"Today we learned about logarithms and exponents. I stated that exponents and logarithms are opposites. Student was initially struggling with the rules involving logarithms and exponents. However, after showing actual examples of how those rules work, she began to understand them. Student was eager to learn the material. I told student to memorize bases of 2 to 9 to certain powers. We practiced expanding logarithms and solving answers to certain logarithms such as finding the exponent of log base 3 of 9. Teacher left enough practice. Therefore, I did not leave any extra problems."
"Today the student continued to work on his percentages worksheet. He does the problems very well. He seems to be motivated by drawing. I tell him that if he finishes a problem, he can draw something--then he completes the problem quickly. He thinks the test he had today went well, and even though he says he guessed a few answers he feels like he got most of them right."
"Went over test prep for the student's math test at school tomorrow. She does really well when she concentrates! I left her with some adding fractions homework as that's what the bulk of her test is tomorrow."
"I brought the spelling bee practice word list. The student and I took turns quizzing each other, and every time we came across a word we could not spell or didn't know what it meant, we looked it up in the dictionary and wrote it down in a sentence. We finished with some refreshers on long multiplication and division. He had a productive session. I left him with the task of writing a review the first book of the new series he is reading."
"We first covered adding and subtracting fractions. Then we discussed reducing those fractions to the lowest common denominator. For science we went over where our planet stands in terms of the universe. We talked about the Earth's crust, mantle, and core. We talked about how scientists discovered/ deduced what our earth is made of even though we've never seen past the crust."
