Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session, the student and I reviewed the translation of the rest of the Cicero passage. We also worked through some grammar reviewing, talking about different subjunctives and beginning to review gerunds vs. gerundives. I am sending along a review sheet on this concept. Since we are finished with the module, we now have time to review main grammar concepts and do some practice translation in preparation for the test."
"Today we worked on third declension neuter nouns and how they work together with adjectives of the first and second declensions. I gave him many practice examples to work through, on the model of what his teacher will ask for on their exam. As we worked, he became more confident with combining the declensions. We then spent a good portion of our time writing out full declension patterns, to get even more practice with this, giving him the ability to see the forms as part of a larger pattern."
"Today we looked at chapter 11 of his book. The student thinks they may have a test on it later in the week. The chapter covers the imperfect case for all conjugations, including sum and possum. It also goes over -que and -ne. He seemed confused at first, but we walked through all of the examples together so that he could see that it's mostly the same thing over and over again. We did the translation at the beginning of the chapter afterwards."
