Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Completed discussion of the cross product and delved into planes in xyz space. Worked through various examples and homework problems so the student could practice all the computational steps. Wrapped up with an intro to cylindrical and spherical coordinates. Covered all the conversion formulas and explained the geometry/trigonometry behind the formulas so he could gain a visual and conceptual understanding of the new coordinate systems."
"Today was my first session with the student. I quizzed her on her multiplication table. We then worked through many long division problems that I made for her. We discussed whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. More importantly, these problems allowed us to discuss the methods of long division and when it is necessary to add zeros and the decimal point in our solution. She is a smart student with a lot of potential for success in the classroom. I think with time and patience, she will excel in mathematics."
"We reviewed the student's previous exam and worked through the problems. She also started her new homework set on Chapter 8.7, calculating surface areas of various shapes (cones, pyramids, etc.)."
"During this session, we went through the student's webwork. The webwork was primarily concerned with application of Simpson's rule, series, sums, and sequences. The student is doing very well with the material."
"During our time together, the student and I reviewed for her test the following day. To accomplish this, we did a wide variety of adding and subtracting fractions problems, including word problems. Even though there were some concepts to iron out, by the end of the session, she had a very good understanding of the material. I left additional practice for her if she wanted to review more."
"We continued to cover addends to 10. We played games from her math tool bag that her classroom teacher suggested as well as drilled subtraction flashcards. She is attentive and eager to participate in all activities."
