"The student was delighted that she made a 90 on her last math test. She had a practice sheet on multiplying decimals including word problems. She worked them all with no problem. She did not bring home her weekly agenda. I asked her parents to give me permission to contact her math teacher so that we could better coordinate our efforts. Her mother sent the email introducing me to her math teacher and giving me permission to speak with her. The student asked me to help her with her Social Studies assignment involving Types of Economic Activities. She completed a table describing the types and traced one natural resource through the economic activities."
"The student worked on homework - multiplying and dividing fractions. We also did conversions of fractions, greatest common factor, and least common factor. We worked on science, doing the parts of a cell, prokaryotes, and eukaryotic cells."
"The student worked on math homework. She completed her online work on percentages. She needs to continue working on deciphering what the problem is asking. Her computations are correct when she sets up problem."
"The student worked on math homework. We went over how to convert radical and exponential expressions. Then, we went over how to simplify expressions of both kinds. Once I explained the rules, when she worked through questions, I'd ask her what the rules were, and she was able to tell me. She has a strong understanding of these concepts. We went over more solving radical expressions and simplifying style ones. She did well working through them with me, and I felt that she learned a lot of new material today."
"The student worked on vocabulary and definitions from my word ladder book. They practiced building and decomposing words to match the given definition. We then practiced the multiplication facts using flashcards as well as playing cards to use touch math for unfamiliar facts."
"The student worked through geometry, algebra, and comprehensive word problems. I reminded her that she has to slow down when she does math facts, as simple mistakes can drastically change your answer in multi-set problems. She was also showing difficulty with percentages and expressions with decimals, so we spent a good amount of time working in those areas as well. We talked about how if she notices the math is taking a while to compute, she's overthinking the problem and needs to reassess her strategy. She feels much more confident about her test today."
