Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student reviewed questions from his math test. He did an excellent job explaining how to calculate the x and y-intercepts from an equation. He needs to continue practicing finding the slope of a line. He was given a homework assignment to calculate the slope of a line to be completed by next tutoring session."
"The student said she was really confused about new topics in math, so we reviewed trig functions (especially word problems), and I taught her SOHCAHTOA. I also helped her understand 45-45-90 and 30-60-90 triangles."
"The student seems to be able to do the work her teacher asks of her, but she has trouble with the small details of the process of solving the problem. Once she has done a problem a certain way, she understands and is able to follow the same process on the next problem. We will continue to work on this issue."
"The student sent a review sheet in preparation for upcoming finals. We spent the session reviewing all the items on the review sheet. Items included proofs, properties of triangles, calculating missing angles, and finding distance between two points on the number line. The student did well on all the review problems and only need to pay closer attention when working with isosceles triangles that are not in the expected orientation on the page."
"The student should be really set for his test! I created some practice problems that targeted some of the areas he was struggling with. We worked through those and solidified some important concepts that I am sure will show up on his test. Lastly, we covered a few missing practice problems from a sheet his teacher gave him. As long as he takes his time with the test and remembers what we practiced, he will be in great shape."
"The student still needs to improve her propensity to rush during tests. She catches on quick, but if it's something she doesn't understand, she takes an immediate dislike to it, which causes her to be pessimistic about her abilities. Finals are next week, and we have two more sessions before her test. I know she'll do great!"
