"Today we covered vectors and free-fall acceleration. We reviewed that vectors have a magnitude and direction. When adding vectors, we connected the head to the tail and drew the resultant vector. When calculating the magnitude and direction of the resultant vector, we decomposed the individual vectors into x and y. Then we added all the x's together and all the y's together. We found the angle by taking the tangent inverse of the absolute value of y over the absolute value of x. We found the reference angle. Using what quadrant the vector is in, we determined the actual angle of the vector. The student was eager to learn the material."
"The student is preparing for her test next week, so we worked through most of the review packet she just received. The topics include frequency distributions and cumulative frequency graphs, quartiles, data analysis (mean, median, mode), and normal distributions. She is doing very well and has shown a lot of progress recently. She was able to answer nearly all of the problems on the review sheet on her own and correctly. She said she feels very confident about this unit. She also had one question about the group test she had today, on the notation of "xi" as part of a summation, and now understands what it means."
"The student and I worked through limits, continuity, continuous and discontinuous functions, and asymptotes. He had several worksheets tonight. We reviewed the concepts of limits and continuity, as well as discontinuities, then worked through two of the worksheets. He quickly worked all problems."
"The student and I conducted a full review and practice of half-angle and double-angle identities. In addition, we conducted an overview of reference angles and finding the negative or positive based on the trig function and quadrant location."
"Today, we covered sum and difference formulas for sine, cosine, and tangent. The student is doing extremely well in his precalculus class. He often finishes the vast majority of problems on his own. We had an extra 30 minutes to spare, so I showed him a short introduction to calculus. I look forward to seeing him next week."
"We covered logarithms - log rules, product, quotient, power, base changes, identity, etc. The student knocked out the lion's share of her homework (I think she had 3 left), but I would recommend her to try the even problems out. Her attitude was great. It was a productive session."
