How can Chemistry tutoring help you succeed?

Chemistry is the study of matter and how particles interact to create new substances. The Periodic Table of Elements lays the foundation of elements in the universe, and chemistry studies how they react to each other by exchanging electrons, changing polarization, and more. Eventually, all high school students will have to take chemistry, although some may enjoy chemistry enough that they continue to study this field in college and pursue a career that involves using chemistry. Whether you are taking this class because you want to do well in a required course to graduate, or you are taking a high-level chemistry class as part of your college major, you might find that you need help understanding the coursework. A personal chemistry tutor in Kendall, FL, will be able to cater sessions to your preferences in a way that you won't get in a traditional classroom setting.

Any of the independent chemistry tutors that Varsity Tutors can connect you with in Kendall are experienced professionals. When you contact the educational directors at Varsity Tutors, we will learn about your needs so that we can match you with the right tutor for your chemistry class. The independent, professional chemistry tutors we can find for you will have experience teaching students who were in the same type of class, so you will have help from someone who thoroughly understands and enjoys chemistry. A professional chemistry tutor also understands how important it is for students, like you, to work in a supportive, distraction-free environment. That's why your tutor will be available to meet you at any location, around your schedule. You can meet in person or online using video chat.

At this session, the student and I continued to review for his final. We worked on Chapters 5-6 (Quantities in Chemistry and Chemical Reactions). I had him define all of the main words from each chapter, and then we worked on problems finding empirical and molecular formulas. Additionally, we set the general guidelines for the various chemical reactions. Before our next session, I asked that he do a few more problems solving for the empirical and molecular formulas as well as memorize the solubility rules for double replacement (precipitation) reactions.

Today we went through the student's homework covering nuclear chemistry. We specifically looked at half-life decay and the effects of radiation exposure (i.e. alpha, beta, and gamma exposure). He did well with the topics and was able to work through the problems just fine. We also very briefly reviewed his notes regarding radioactive decay. He has a quiz on this material on Monday and then he thinks he's done getting new material. He is putting together a review sheet that summarizes his semester together to help us prepare him for his final.

The student has a chemistry test tomorrow over the material we were working on last week - balancing ionic equations and oxidation/reduction. We went over her review packet. She was able to successfully balance equations of reactions happening in both acidic and basic environments. She has a firm understanding of how to balance the extra ions with H+ or water molecules (and then with OH- if necessary). We only encountered a couple of issues when it came to predicting the change in oxidation/reduction whenever the molecule wasn't read correctly, i.e. with S2O4 predicting that sulfur has an oxidation state of 4+ and not 8+, etc. Once we cleared up that hurdle, she really seems to do well with this subject material. She even admitted that she liked this material more than other chapters and feels confident in her ability to answer these questions.

We covered equilibrium charts, and Le Chatelier's principles. The student has a great attitude toward his work, and is progressing very well. I gave him a couple of small pointers to help him keep the material more clear.
