Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed several concepts and did practice. First, I reviewed her Spanish paper and made necessary corrections. Second, we reviewed "El preterito, el imperfecto, el subjuntivo, el indicativo, y el condicional." In addition, we did several practice activities online and viewed a PowerPoint Presentation about the difference between the preterite and imperfect tense."
"Today, we went over vocabulary from the Aztec unit the student is working on in class. I quizzed him in both English and Spanish and I wrote fill-in-the-blank practice sentences for him to practice, using the vocabulary in context. His quiz will be on Wednesday using the same format. He has an exam on the legend from the Aztec unit on Wednesday as well. We went over the key concepts of the legend, summarized it, and I had him answer specific questions on the legend in Spanish. Finally, we discussed the Aztec culture and did some research for his one page paper on the Aztecs. The student had a great attitude and made much progress. We are working on not translating everything into English and then back to Spanish, but rather learning to think in Spanish."
"Today we went over the difference between "Por" and "Para". This means "For" in English but it can get a little confusing for non-Spanish speaking because they are used for different situations. We reviewed her class work and I gave her an extra worksheet explaining the differences and worked on a few exercises. By the end of the session she did understand the differences and did very well on her practice sheet."
