Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed electrochemistry for her test on Friday, which included oxidation-reduction reactions and electrochemical cells."
"This was our first session. We reviewed the topics of climate and water. We began to go over information on the atmosphere. The student will take a practice exam over the weekend."
"The student and I reviewed AP style questions from old AP exams and talked through how to answer them when she takes her exam."
"We started with a difficult vapor pressure problem then switched to crystal structures and unit cells. The student learned fast and well. It was a very productive session. We planned out the next month or so of lessons and called it a day."
"We started with acid/base reactions, focusing on stoichiometry and showing all work with labels, units, etc., because that is where the student lost some points on his most recent exam. We then moved on to the new material for his next exam, consisting of Charles' law, Boyle's' law, Dalton's law of partial pressures, and the ideal gas law. We worked through problems on mole fractions, partial pressures, and the combined gas law. I will email him some practice for the ideal gas law for him to attempt before we meet again. Again, I encourage him to make flashcards of the specific laws and definitions (such as native metals from the last exam)."
"We started with covering binomials and factoring. The student was a little confused on a recent lesson, but she was able to clear up all of her confusion rather quickly. We then moved on to Bio, where we covered some terms and concepts she was not grasping. I broke each one down for her and helped her learn them. I asked that she review all of her bio material and write down everything she does not know so we can cover everything on Wednesday to make sure she does well on her exam. She does seem to be doing better with all of her material, and I hope she continues to do well."
