How can a tutor help your child master the SSAT?
The Secondary School Admissions Test, SSAT, is administered to students in grades 3 through 11, and is used for admission decisions to private high schools and middle schools. The exam is offered once a month from October to April, and again in June. Although students' SSAT score will likely not solely make or break a their application, it is a critical portion of their application portfolio. Therefore, it is advisable to properly prepare, and a private tutor may be the perfect solution to accomplish that. If you are seeking SSAT tutoring near Katy, TX, the educational directors at Varsity Tutors could help you connect with a tutor who could help your child pursue his or her academic goals.
There are three levels of the exam offered, and your child could test on the level that corresponds to their grade level: elementary, middle, or upper. The elementary level is given to 3rd and 4th grade students, the middle level is given to 5th through 7th graders, and the upper level is administered to students in the 8th grade and higher. At the middle and upper level, all students are given 3 hours and 5 minutes to complete the test, but elementary students are given 1 hour 50 minutes. Despite your child's test level, they will be tested on the same three sections: Quantitative, Reading Comprehension, and Verbal Reasoning. The only difference is that the middle and upper levels will have two Quantitative sections, as opposed to one for elementary. The test also contains an essay, but it will not be scored. It will, however, be sent to the schools that your student is applying to.Show More
