Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed last week's quiz and went over corrections with him. Student seems to be having trouble with formulas, so we made flashcards. Worked through this week's homework, which is properties of vertical angles. Did some more practice problems afterwards to ensure that he has a solid grasp of the procedures."
"The student and I discussed her current level of progress and the best approach for helping her get caught up with the material. We then transitioned to reviewing the lecture material from week 17. Our plan is to meet 3 or 4 times a week to help her rebuild her confidence, and after that we will meet perhaps only once or twice a week."
"We reviewed multiples, factors, and fractions heavily. We reviewed key words that would help her recognize what the question might be asking for as well."
"Yesterdays session went well. We covered special right triangles along with the Pythagorean theorem. She was still having difficulty seeing the purpose of the special right triangles but I hope that after yesterdays session she has a better understanding of it. She also needs to practice solving the problems and algebraically reduce her expressions. If she checks over her work and practices problems she should do well on the exam."
"Before today's session, I had the student pick out 15-20 math questions that she thought she would have trouble on if she encountered them on the test. We did all the questions together and went over each one individually, and that took 3/4 of our time. For the last 20-30 minutes we practiced vocab-in-context questions."
"We worked on several tasks. One was a project due in a couple of weeks. The student had much of the coding done; we simply tweaked it to better fit the project. We also went over practice questions for an upcoming exam. Some were simple and direct, while others were complex multistage problems. We will go over more of them next session."
