Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I worked on math and reading. I think she is doing much better with math and is learning to check her work. I am very excited that she spent additional time going over her last quiz in class and I hope she receives an improved grade as a result. I want her to really understand that she is a bright girl that only misses problems primarily due to small mistakes. She is getting better at avoiding these mistakes, however."
"I gave the student a quiz on run-on sentences, and we discussed it afterwards. Then, we discussed the anatomy of a paragraph and characteristics of good paragraphs. I assigned the remainder of the lesson packet along with some additional topic sentence practice for HW."
"The student and I worked on the ablative absolute (use and construction). While we focused on this new concept, we also incorporated a lot of review, including uses of the ablative and other cases, the function of a participle, and case endings. I am impressed by the student's progress. He still has minor gaps in his Latin knowledge (principle parts of verbs, an intuitive recall of the case endings, forming some constructions), but he is definitely taking the concepts we discuss and building upon them very effectively. "We worked though a couple of the homework sets assigned, dealing with the topics of parabolas and ellipses. Since the student has an exam on Tuesday, we will spend some time on Monday reviewing and figuring out what questions with likely be on the exam, and answering any questions about homework problems. If we have time, I'd also like to go over the student's previous exam as well."
"The student and I worked on her History of Photography quiz, and then discussions for the History of Photography and Photography Seminar. We also briefly talked about the structure of her PowerPoint for the Photography Seminar, on the photographers who have influenced her. She is going to work more on that project."
