Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"She has a test today, and we went over the materials that are on the test. This included transformations, reflections, scatter plots, and numerical sequencing. I brought some work that I thought would help her, which was finding the equation of a line, given 2 points."
"She has been reviewing linear equations in class, so we have been focusing on calculating slope and the formula of a line given different sets of information. We have primarily been working on homework, as well as extra credit and challenging class work. Most linear equation problems seems straightforward for her, though we have also started working on conversions which seem to be more challenging for her. We have been practicing multiple strategies to help her become more comfortable."
"She has been studying hard. Yesterday, we worked through a homework assignment together. She has come a long way toward being able to do the work independently and is better understanding the English language used in the Math class. We're continuing to prepare for the second exam, which is late next week."
"She is one of my most interesting students: she has really challenged me to be a much better tutor. It is much more than academics with her. It has been about restoring confidence and building her courage by "baby steps." She is coming along socially, as well as academically. There are challenges ahead, but little by little, we are making strides to help her succeed in both areas."
"She is still working on Chapter 2: Differentiation. Today we focused on Implicit Differentiation and using it to find slopes of more complicated functions in order to write equations of tangent lines. Her homework grade has improved, and her confidence in the material has grown. She has made great strides in understanding the material."
"She played a game of Jeopardy to practice her multiplication skills. She knocked it out of the park and ended with a final score of 710 (which is about as high as it can be). We are going to continue with half hour sessions to practice immediacy knowledge of math facts and extend/clear up questions about class content. She will have these skills mastered soon if she continues her practicing."
