Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"She and I worked through issues she was having with her homework with scale factor and responding to follow-up inquiry questions. I showed her a video on the topic for further understanding, and she worked on some online problems I provided to practice the skills. She is a hard worker and thoughtful student."
"She appeared not to have all of her school worksheets in her binder. I was unable to review her social studies with her. Instead, we reviewed two step equations. She quickly caught on to the process and was able to do several problems on her own. She knows what a variable is and understands that she needs to find out its value. Today's session was for an hour instead of an hour and a half."
"She completed the four sections that will be covered on the first exam. I explained the last two sections and she completed all of the assigned exercises including applications of quadratic expressions in real life situations."
"She continues to do well in our sessions and continues to improve with her calculations. It's great to see her applying the grouping methodology into other problems as well (i.e. some multiplication and other questions I ask her to do in her head instead of calculating them out). Her intuition for calculations is sharp, and we will continue to work on her confidence as sometimes she doubts herself even when she has the right answer. She was a little restless today; the cupcakes she baked were a distraction, but she had fun incorporating them into word problems, calculating baking times, costs, multiplication, etc.. We will continue to work on time problems since that is the most challenging for her."
"She did a great job during our session. She was able to complete 7 worksheets while we were in session. We started working on making addition sentences based on pictures that had been set up. She did really well. We then worked on basic addition problems and worked into high numbers. She has absolutely been working on the techniques we have been working on! At the end of the session, we did a math minute session. She was able to complete all three lines in under 1 minute each. This was a great session."
"She did not have any Biology to work on, so we strictly worked on math today. First, we reviewed some homework she had. Once again, her only errors were forgetting to put her negative signs. Next we started working on her practice test for her exam next week. She struggled with some of these problems and definitely needs more practice solving equations using substitution and elimination methods. The problems we struggled at the most were solving 3 equations using elimination method. I found a good website for her to refer to with step by step instructions so she should be able to practice some more on her own later."
