Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a number of homework assignments to complete during tonight's session. He had a math assignment. Then he had to complete a civics packet over constitutional amendments. The answers came straight from the book so there was no problem with answering the questions. Next we worked on two Spanish worksheets. Finally, we worked through some simple vocabulary exercises for his English class. After completing all his work, we looked over the grades that are currently posted for him."
"With Student 1, we worked on her note-taking skills, going over outline formats with her History reading. With Student 2, we went over her upcoming lab report presentation, refining her hypothesis."
"We focused on preparing for the student's Social Studies test. We reviewed the information and gave greater context to the material."
"Today we had an art lesson using water colors. We used them to create layers of color to depict everything from the earth's inner core all the way up to the stratosphere. Then, we used a gel pen to annotate important facts on each layer. The product was outstanding! Following this, we did math. This afternoon he has a reading assignment and study cards to make."
"Today we organized assignments, did a math vocabulary quiz preparation, looked at Bible test preparation, and looked at the student's English paper peer grading. I assigned math test problems- even numbers, focusing on literal equations and dimensional analysis. We discussed preparation for the student's history test- I asked him to highlight problem areas so I can help next session. We also planned assignments through Monday, to try to get ahead this weekend- particularly with his science lab assignment."
"Today we organized the student by going through each binder and putting notes in one section, worksheets in another, and putting everything in order. In doing so, we found a lot of items that he was either missing in classes or that were misplaced. In the coming days I expressed to him the necessity to ask his teachers about turning in missing or late assignments and figuring out exactly what is due. Specifically, he needs to turn in a science food chain assignment and a science packet which will take his grade from somewhere in the 60s to possibly into the 70s."
