"The student took a few more practice sections today. We looked at the different possibilities in patterns and how sometimes saying the values (out loud or in your head) or writing them down helps. She also cruised through a paper folding section and aced it."
"We concentrated on the Butterfly Method for solving addition problems involving unlike fractions, and the Upside Down Ladder strategy for finding lowest common denominators. By the end of our lesson, the student successfully and independently implemented both strategies and was arriving at correct answers on every occasion, including in a timed setting. I am pleased with his progress. As I mentioned previously, the student performed best on our pretest when it came to graphing and solving problems that were of a visual nature. Based on our pretest, the student will work on problem types that involve order of operations. It is a pleasure to work with him."
"Met for the first time with the student. He is a very nice young man. We did an overview on two of the four subjects, English and American History. He has been in our country for nine months, so it is a tough transition to learn US school work. He did pretty well in some of the English exercises, but not as well with American History, as he was brought up studying Thailand History. He is an eager learner, and we will get him prepared for the May test. We will concentrate on his subjects next week. We will again have heavy review of history next week."
