Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over light, the double slit experiment, single slits and diffraction gratings. We finished reviewing the student's online work and looked at a worksheet as well."
"Reviewed oxidation reduction reactions, identifying them, balancing them, and reviewed galvanic and electrolytic cells. Student was left to practice balancing reactions on her own."
"For our final session in preparation for the student's final chemistry exam, we spent time reviewing various types of problems and concepts that she felt uncertain about. We did examples of problems solving for work, heat, and internal energy change under different circumstances and which equations are appropriate for each situation, practiced heating curve and calorimetry problems, practiced calculating reaction enthalpy and entropy using standard values, and spent more time underlining the relationship between Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, temperature, and entropy of a reaction. I again stressed the importance of reading the problems thoroughly to make sure all the vital information is taken into account before attempting any calculations. She told me that she felt more prepared for this exam than any of her previous ones, so that gave me much hope (and hopefully gives her confidence) that she can perform well enough to pass the exam and the course. Based on her situation and her determination to nail down this material, I think she is in good shape to reach her goal."
