Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered three different tenses; presente indicativo, preterito indefinido, and preterito imperfecto. In particular, we focused on what the conjugations are for the three types of regular verbs in each of these three tenses, which seemed to help a lot. I was very impressed with the student, she was eager to learn and was also picking up the topics that we worked on very well. We discussed how noticing patterns in the way that verbs are conjugated can help to remember the various conjugations in the future. We also spent some time going over the prompts that she has been given for her final oral examination that she will be taking in a few weeks for her Spanish class. This seemed very helpful and we will continue to practice these prompts in our future lessons in order to build confidence on those topics. I was very happy to see that by the end of the class we were able to talk almost exclusively in Spanish for about the last 5 minutes without stopping."
"During this session, we completed some of the student's online homework. The homework covered por vs. para, the subjunctive, and the subjunctive vs. infinitive. We completed exercises covering various vocabulary words related to finances. We also watched a video and then answered true or false questions about the story. Since the student has much homework to complete, we tried to complete his homework as quickly as possible. However, I made sure that he understood the concepts that were covered."
"After reviewing the vocabulary terms we worked on in the previous session, the student and I went through each of the grammar concepts taught since the beginning of the year. We did exercises to review each of those concepts. For the few that we did not get to, I discussed with the student the best strategies to go over them on his own. I also left him with specific verbs to work on. His final is tomorrow, so he's expected to review on his own tonight."
